Peter Colella has been active in corporate finance activities on a national and international level over the course of his 32-year career. In 1981 he founded Colmen, where his areas of specialization have involved Investment Banking, Turnarounds, and Management Advisory. Mr. Colella has taken Colmen to new levels in merger and acquisition, corporate finance and business consulting services, including sales, purchases, divestitures, joint ventures, leveraged transactions and management buyouts in both private and public companies. In addition to over 300 successful investment banking transactions, he has also built a stellar performance record with turnarounds and profit improvement services over the past twenty years.
Mr. Colella has assembled the “Colmen Team” of operational professionals, positioning Colmen to address the contemporary needs of the business community. Mr. Colella shares his expertise in seminars and public speaking engagements throughout the country. Previously, Mr. Colella was employed by billion-dollar manufacturing and distribution firms. He was a financial officer with Berwind Corporation, a private Philadelphia-based diversified industrial company. Additionally, he was a financial officer for the North American operations of Royal Doulton China, Ltd.
Mr. Colella holds an MBA from St. John’s University and BS degree in Business Administration from LaSalle College. Throughout his executive career, Jack has held leadership positions in major corporations as well as an Independent Consultant to CEOs and Boards; His corporate roles were as Chairman of SGS AG Wealth Management Company, Zurich; Executive Director of Prudential Financial and Dryden Wealth Management Zurich and London and Asia; GM of Bankers Trust New York Corporation, Zurich; The Boston Company in Boston and London and Chase-Lincoln First Bank. His first European assignment was to build a bank in London for The Boston Company, and then bought a Swiss Bank for the same group. In his current role as an Independent Consultant, he provides consulting services to CEOs at the Board-level for an early stage medical device company in Boston, mid-sized Swiss private bank, 2 US Financial Services groups, a pharmaceutical company, a publicly traded Bio-Tech company, and, in the past, a Swiss IT company, a Swiss private equity firm, two healthcare groups, and start-up IT companies. He has a proven history of effective international management, restructuring, achieving high growth, and exceeding targets.
Jack holds an MBA in Finance from Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania and a BA in Economics and Political Science from Gettysburg College. Professional licenses have included US securities licenses 3,7, 63, 7,8, (now the 24), The Bank of England, The FSA, Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, and Monaco regulatory authorities as well as the Swiss Federal Banking Commission. He serves as a Board Member of Tufts Medical Center, Prescribers Choice, Vice Chairman of The Children’s Diagnostic and Treatment Center, a Private Equity Board Member of two companies, and other charity Boards.
Mr. Bowman is a Global C-level biotech executive with a career of delivering top line growth in the microalgae industry across multiple platforms, companies, and markets. He has led 30+ M&A’s delivering higher shareholder values by expanding manufacturing from commodities into value added ingredients. Mr. Bowman has an outstanding history of developing corporate & commercial growth strategies that have doubled or tripled EBITDA within 3-5 years with such companies as BGG World, HK Ltd, Formerly Solix Algredients, Solozyme, CP Kelco, Cargill, and others. He is experienced in raising capital and working with private equity investors. Mr. Bowman has a MBA from Averett University, and a BS in Food Science Engineering & Technology, and a Minor in Bio-Polymer Chemistry and Math at Virginia Tech.
Prior to AlgiSys, Dr. Roe co-founded and served as the CTO of Algae Producers of America, an algal products start-up company focused on the production of algae oil, animal feed, beta carotene, and astaxanthin. He was previously a lead consultant and program manager with NineSigma, a technology and innovation sourcing company with offices in the US, EU, Korea, and Japan. At NineSigma, he worked with C-level executives in the R&D organizations of Fortune 500 and Global 1000 corporations to identify, procure, and develop technology on a world-wide basis. Dr. Roe’s projects consistently focused on improving his client’s technology platforms, brokering technology exchanges, technical enhancement of product lines, and establishing R&D partnerships. Dr. Roe holds three degrees in chemical engineering, and has expertise with emerging technologies across a diverse range of industries. He is a Fellow of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE), and serves as an inaugural Board member for the AIChE Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship Excellence (CIEE). Dr. Roe also previously served as a Special Scientific Adviser on Microalgae and Biotechnology to the Secretary General of the Intergovernmental Institution for the Use of Micro-Algae Spirulina Against Malnutrition (IIMSAM), a non-governmental organization affiliated with the United Nations. Mr. Wheeler is one of the founders of the Akron ARCHAngels, a regional angel investment group.Mr. Wheeler received his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Cornell University. He is also a graduate of advanced management programs at Columbia University and Stanford University, and has completed numerous technical short courses in fuels, polymers, specialty materials, and chemistry.
Mr. Jasko has over 40 years of experience in food ingredient product development, food safety/quality management, ingredient sales and marketing, and technical service. He is a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in fatty acid-based (lipid) chemistry and commercial ingredient applications. He has a broad knowledge-base in food science and technology, including ingredient composition and functionality in end-user applications, and has extensive management experience in R&D, product development, and product commercialization. Mr. Finn has experience in venture capital, private equity, mergers and acquisitions, and institutional investment. He is a seasoned investment executive with extensive background in building private and public companies, as well as having served as a corporate director for over 40 companies. Mr. Finn’s areas of expertise include manufacturing, software, technology, health care, and financial services. He has worked for the State of Michigan Treasury Department, Sears Investment Management Co., Brantley Venture Partners, LanderNorth Asset Management, and others. Dr. Wen is one of the world’s foremost experts on algae, EPA omega-3 fatty acids, and fermentation systems. He is presently a faculty member in the Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition at Iowa State University, but he has also conducted algae research at the University of Hong Kong, East China University of Science and Technology, Washington State University, and Virginia Tech. Over the course of his career, Dr. Wen has been actively engaged in leading-edge research, teaching and education, publishing and scholarship, academic and professional service, and entrepreneurship. Some of his major accomplishments include: Publication of more than 50 journal articles, book chapters, extension papers, and patents; $1.5 million in grant monies raised; over 60 invited lectures, conference presentations, and extension program seminars; Grant and publication reviewer for 11 journals and 5 federal agencies/organizations. Dr. Wen is the inventor of the technology that AlgiSys initially licensed from Virginia Tech, and further developed at Iowa State University through an SBIR grant from the U.S. National Science Foundation.
